When you drive down a rural road in the Crescent Valley, or anywhere in the West Kootenay area, it is common to see barns in rural farms. Some look sturdy, some weathered, and some fading. But while this rustic barn look may seem charming, this can only mean that the barn lacks paint maintenance which can lead to wood rot and metal rust.
Barns play an important part in the rural farms of the West Kootenay area. They serve as animal shelters, storage silos, vehicle shelters, tool and equipment sheds, and many more. Thus, it is important to maintain these barns through exterior painting.
Crescent Valley Barns

Though the valley is a well-known tourist attraction because of its beach, white-water paddling rapids, and camping grounds, it also houses a large number of agricultural farming communities. Hence, the need for well-maintained barns.
The Approach to Painting Barns
When it comes to painting barns, professional local painting services such as A&A Painting Ltd. play an important role. Barn painting is not just applying a fresh coat of paint on the whole building exterior; it is a meticulous process that requires professional expertise and a complete understanding of the unique challenges that barns face against the elements.
Professional painters always need to consider the structural design, texture, and high vertical spaces, whether it is a pole barn, metal barn, or wooden barn. Another consideration is the barn’s exposure to weather conditions. Thus, the main objective of barn exterior painting is to prevent structural rot and warping damage, prevent rust and corrosion, maintain its aesthetic appeal, and extend its lifespan.
